At the last two school committee meetings, a growing and passionate cross section of the Hamilton Wenham Community, including parents, teachers, students and concerned citizens got up to speak, and try to get their voices heard by the School Committee and the Superintendent Dr. Harvey, advising them to slow down or abandon their determination to implement Common Core and it’s evaluation regime.
Please watch your fellow citizens speak to the school committee and the superintendent.

4-17 School Committee Meeting
This second video is of the school committee meeting on 4/17/14. Go to http://hwcam.org, click on Search. In the Title Field, enter the string “4.17.14” and press enter. Click on the entry for that nights school committee meeting. Dr. Harvey reiterates the presentation from 4-3, now targeted specifically at the elementary schools Again, listen to teachers, parents and students remarks. Please listen to the remarks! Then see for yourself as the school committee ignores all input, and pushes forward with the plan “mandated” by the state, which will cost us over $300K in lost teaching capacity each year.
(We are planning on having an easier way to see the remarks soon).
Let the school committee and superintendent know you would be behind them when they have the courage to wake up and halt forward progress. The school committee in Peabody, after having an open forum with Sandra Stotsky, realized the dangers they were heading for, and subsequently voted unanimously to allow parents to opt-out of PARCC testing for their children. Ask the school committee to follow Peabody’s lead, allow parents to opt-out of both PARCC testing and the mandatory iPad lease.
